"The true purpose of a present is to be received" - Marie Kondo
December 26, 2018
If you've got a few gifts that you're not sure fit with your home and lifestyle don't feel guilty as the gifts have already served their true purpose by bringing joy to the person who chose and gave it to you.
Rather than putting the gift away in a cupboard never to be seen again why not try it out at least once - you never know it may Spark Joy in an unexpected way. A kitchen gadget may make a mundane task easier (I'm loving my avocado stone remover!).
If it's a gift for a child then encourage them to try it out. Monopoly may not be the latest console game that was on their list but if you unwrap it and play it together they'll appreciate the time spent with you - family Christmas memories are made when we sit down together and laugh or argue our way through who has hotels on Park Lane!
If the long stripy socks with individual toes from great Aunt Mabel aren't for you once you've tried them, then regift them so that someone can get some pleasure from wearing them - charity shops are always grateful for quality stock.
